I handicapped expecting fast track like yesterday. As the temperatures warmed speed faded. Generally a fair track, each race provided a different surface.
Race 1 – ANTIQUE SILVER #7 – fourth could fire, second race off a break. PASS ME A DRINK #6 – second takes a big cut in class and has a great lifetime winning percentage, Her stable is 0/64, so the price will be right if she hits the board. LITTLE MISS MORGAN #4 – fifth has been turning in consistent figs while being a beaten favorite her last three trips. Pass
Race 2 – If today’s track resembles yesterday’s, HEZALOTTA WANDA #4 – second will have an excellent chance to make it two in a row, QUARTERBACK #2 – fourth has been too powerful in 2015 to ignore until he runs out of gas. HE’S ETAIN #1 – winner $13.40 can run with these and if 10/1 morning line holds, he’ll bring value to the exacta payoff. Pass The winners odds dropped to 5/1, a 1,4 exacta paid $31.40.
Race 3 – Josh Faulkner’s entry looks to have it “both ways” with front running
QUEEN’S ESCORT #1A – scratch and closer DIVIDED NATION #1 – fourth. FUGETABOUTIT SANDY #4 – winner $14.80 disappointed me the last time, but still seems well prepared to strike today. PICO PICO #7 – last could surprise, well beaten last time, her conqueror returned to run a solid second against better yesterday. The scratch may leave SCORE BABY SCORE #5 – second loose on the lead. WPS #4 – $28.50 and 4,5,7 exacta box – $57.00
Race 4 – This race appears to be re-drawn from last week, keeping most of the field together. Now scheduled at 3/16 rather than a mile and a quarter. It’s a tough play, but should be an excellent race. Several of my favorites show up here. FREUD’S VALE #1 – dropped jock at the break seems the most likely to enjoy the stretch in distance. QUIET and FOXY #2 seems by far the classy here.
SOLAR MAXIMUS #7 – scratch is a very powerful front end runner. BRITE SABBETH #6 – winner $8.40 seems to show up at extended distances. I’m looking at WPS #6 at long odds 10/1 or up and 1,2,6 exacta box
Race 5 – *UNIQUE INDIGO #6 – third can be the fastest here, dropping from open company for new connections. HUSTLE HARD #3 – winner $6.00 will be the one to catch. Lightly raced COLONYS HOT BID #7 – fourth may prove that her last trip was authentic. I like W#6 *note to self: check the horses genders! That’s a mare facing boys
Race 6 – AZUBA #2 – winner $5.40 could get a nice set up behind duelers while returning to her winning distance. FAST CHARLOTTE #8 has displayed the most speed at today’s distance despite just breaking her maiden. SPECIAL RESCUE #6 – second as a recent maiden winner could battle with FAST CHARLOTTE #8 – fourth for the lead. Pass The 2,6 exacta paid $18.60
Race 7 – His Woodbine history allows one to believe that MONEYINTHECUVEE #9 – third, denied in the stretch by the winner, faded can continue to dominate his local foes. MONEY MAKES #7 – sixth and D’DOMINATOR #8 – second seem the most likely locals to keep pace with the top choice. Both invaders are classy enough to win, but leave me suspicious. Pass Woodard’s big dropper SOUTHPAW SLUGGER won it $4.60, Sullivan claimed him
Race 8 – POTATO PUDDING #1 – fourth fits well here as the most consistent. SHAWKLIT PUDDIN #3 – second has a much talent, but picks his spots. I’ll hope that TWO TURN PANTHER #6 – last finds the lead and keeps running at a price. WPS #6 at 10/1 or up and 1,3,6 exacta box
Race 9 – Very tough finale. Loooch ships in BIGMONEYSUNNY #6. EX MARQ #3 – neither finished in the money invades from the Fairgrounds to face some solid local 3nl types. Pass
