Today’s averages winning pace figs: (FT) 5 Sprints 0.69 – 2 wire to wire; 3 Routes 0.58 – 2 wire to wire, Pressers prevailed . . .
Race 1 – 6 furlongs $3,500 Claimers Fillies and mares which have not won two races in 2014 – 2015 or have never won three races
#1 OH GOLLY MS MOLLY is the only lady in this group showing a victory from off the pace. These “need the lead” types could fall apart in the stretch leaving her a chance to get up late. Unfortunately she is half of the Shane Spiess entry which includes #1A WELL NOTED LADY – second who appears the freshest of these. This short priced entry looks very tough to beat.
Race 4 – 6 furlongs $13,200 Maiden special weights
There must be an interesting story behind #4 KEENELAND KITTEN – second ending up here today. Regally bred, he was last seen running for $32,000 at Turf Paradise after being dismissed from the barns of Michael Maker and Dale Romans during his three year journey. Check the pre-race vibes in the paddock here.
Race 5 – 1 1/8 mile Allowance $14,000 Fillies and mares which have started for a claiming price of $5,000 or less in 2014 – 2015
#6 MADAM GRACE – sixth went so easily in her debut here that she has a chance to repeat today against a very strong field. #1 JEWELYNAMBER – off the board, last cashed some checks in Kentucky last fall. If fit she can compete here. #5 SAINT PATTY ANN – winner $4.80 brings a strong late kick to the table.
Race 6 – 6 furlongs Allowance $14,200 Fillies and mares that have never won a race other than maiden, claiming, starter or Ohio bred
#4 MISS CLARK COUNTY – scratch looks like the real deal. That loss at Mountaineer came to CHELLA a two time allowance winner here in December on speed favoring evening. #2 TANGUERAY MISS – seventh, last stumbled out of the gate last time and was thrown off her game. #6 SHOES FOR JLO – winner $6.00 comes back from being claimed to face the team that lost her in the “race within the race.” Watch the claim box here.
Race 7 – A mile and 70 yards $5,000 Claimers Fillies and mares that have never won two races
#1 SPECIAL RESCUE – second much the best credentials of those who have faced winners. #5 CAROLYN – winner $5.00 hasn’t lifted a hoof in Florida this year but faces much easier her. Equibase has no record of her Puppet On A String Stable. Another trip to the paddock. 5/1 exacta $9.80
Race 8 – 5 1/2 furlongs $4,000 claimers that have not won two races in a year
#5 GOODNESS GREYCIOUS – third is the most reliable here but he must be rated off a speed filled field. Maybe #6 MALIBU WAVES -winner $3.80 in for red hot Eliot Sullivan will draw some attention away from the morning line favorite.
