MVR 2-8-16

Ramblings aren’t always wagers.

Race 1 – Three-year-old #7 FAITHFUL JUSTICE lost an extended duel 26Jan to another improving youngster while dusting most of these vets; Trainer Shane Meyers may have the exacta box covered with his other entry #6 SCARLET SAVVY who finished willingly against boys at this level in January – scratch #7; 6**-5-1-2 ($2.80)

Race 2 – #9 (PP11) AWSOME SWIRL finished briskly last time at today’s level; faces more ground today. #3 (PP1) WAR DRESS won her MVR debut under mild urging at today’s distance. #1A (POE/PP6) MY STARS could easily surprise on cutback off convincing maiden victory; sprinted in Canada– 3*-5-7-2 ($17.00)

Race 3 – Three-year-old daughter of Lookin At Lucky #7 (PP8) LINDA’S LUCK should be a good candidate to stretch her speed around two turns. #3 HE’S TAKEN does his best running in Ohio company. Robert Gorham’s entry #1 (POE) TRIPLE STRIKE and #1A (POE/PP5) CLEVER CHAT seem to have an advantage at this distance but both have been away from the track for awhile; might be vulnerable – 6-7*-1*-(1*)-5 ($24.00)

Race 4 – You might get dizzy following the jockey scramble here;  as for the horses: #3 DRAW NIGH was at a disadvantage when his jock dropped the whip heading home last time; returns after rare claim by the Dominic Giglio, Jr. barn. #6 BOOT LEGGER matched strides with the #3 16 Jan. Back from the Fairgrounds #8 ZAMBITO fits with these. The potential race shape seems to the advantage of #7 BLUE TIE AFFAIR (again) but he’ll need another golden window to run through – 7*-6*-8*-9 ($11.80)

Race 5 – #6 REAL LUCK loses his conditions but has been OK against open company in the past; looks for three-in-a-row at his best distance. #11 DOMONATION will appreciate the return to 5 1/2 furlongs. Big jock switch for #9 BILL NACK who ran in tight quarters last time – 6**-9*-1-8 ($3.80)

Race 6 – #5 SIR BLUEGRASS came again late in sharp effort last time. #3 LIME DROP was too late and too wide before packing it in 25Jan. #11 RIGHT NOW gets slight class relief – 1-11*-9-3* ($16.80)

Race 7 – #1 TWISTED FACTS gets the first jump as several “needs the lead” types cross paths off impressive wins. #11 CARSON GEM gets outside leverage. #2 ZETH would have to reach deep for extra zip but could take advantage of a duel on the lead – 1**-4-11*-12 ($9.60)

Race 8 – #9 SAINT ARBOR if fit hopes to dodge the claim box and grab a purse; deep class drop off a freshening. #4 READY TO TAUNT has been churning out solid works; consistent performer. #2 MACRO ZOOM can crank it up early; interesting move from the Sullivan barn – 9**-12-3-7 ($6.60)
