MVR 2-27-16

Ramblings aren’t always wagers.

Race 1 – FYI: The 10Feb match between five of these was the slowest of 254 six furlong races run at MVR this season; knee deep mud in a snow storm. That said the winner that afternoon was a well backed Wesley Ward first time starter giving #6 (PP7) ROBERT’S UNBRIDLED some street cred; he finished evenly with BAREFOOT GYPSY as that race fell apart. (winner $3.00)

Race 2 – #3 TICKET TO VICTORY must find a group that he can wire to collect his overdue diploma. With a freshener in the books and the best route figs on dirt this could be graduation day. (second)

Race 3 – #4 A UNIQUE LADY cuts back after defeating open company for the Tim Burke barn; back class indicates that she might be OK against these. This is a juicy field at this level. They all fit. (second)

Race 4 – #4 MOVING STYLE seldom leaves his “A” game in the stall but was out jumped by #5 TEAM SIX on a speed favoring track in January; well spaced efforts are typical for him; the speedy maintenance work is a positive – Plenty of classy alternatives here for price shopping gamblers . . . (third)

Race 5 – #2 LA GRAN EMILY missed the break before being tangled in traffic last time; returns to winning distance and jock; gets first run with clean break today. (winner $7.80)

Race 6 – This appears to be a match between several young and squarely bred Ohio runners. The sharp gate work gets #4 ASTRO J who won at first asking last season a slight lean over recent maiden breaker #8 RIVER’S IMAGE. (second placed fourth DQ)

Race 7 – #8 PLAYING WITH FIRE should be winging on the outside with a clear view of the early action in this abbreviated sprint; this is his preferred distance. (second)

Race 8 – #2 MACUTO has burned a lot of money since shipping west but has recorded decent figs relative to this field. (eighth)
