Saturday ramblings . . .
Race 1: #2 MIZZ QUOTED might stretch her speed advantage to top this struggling quintet. 2*-5-3-4 ($2.60)
Race 2: #1 PIRATE RADIO is the fastest of the locals. Finger Lakes shippers are 10-2-1-4 at this meet; neither winner was in Amber Cobb’s barn but she has shipped in competitive stock. 3-1*-4-2 ($6.40)
Race 3: The opening pic3 is mystery through these eyes. Anyhow, it’s possible that #6, pp7 BEESWACKER gets loose on the lead and stays – keep in mind that it was tough to win on the front end yesterday. 3YO #3 SKYLAR’S A JIGGEN takes her first crack at claimers. #1, pp2 LAVA ROCKS ran past several of these late on 04August. Scratch 1; 3*-6*-7-1* ($6.20)
Race 4: Only #2 JOY OF BAPISTRY and #5 FOREST BLAZE have shown any recent pop. Vets # ROCK N HEART and #7 HE’S ETAIN slide down in class. 2*-7*-6-5* ($12.20)
Halfway through the card without a clue . . .
Race 5 PAY THE MAN STAKE $75,000 Ohio-bred fillies and mares, 1 1/16 miles:
Current “Queen of Ohio” #4, pp6 JUSTALITTLESMOKE has been torching her Ohio contemporaries for three years. #1 NIKKI MY DARLING, the heir apparent, also proved her ablity to stretch out on dirt in her last trip. NIKKI is cross-entered today; a possibility for the Lady Jacqueline. Stablemate #1x, pp4 MAYAS QUEEN NEETEE hasn’t lost since arriving in Ohio; worthy challenger to either/or. Scratch 1x; 1*-4*-3-2 ($4.80)
Race 6: #7 OBVIOUS ONE likes the course and the distance. Son of Tapit, #1 HEARTWOOD has been carted around the country looking for a break out race. Now or never? 6-3-2-1* ($17.20)
Race 7 LADY JACQUELINE STAKE $200,000 fillies and mares 1 1/8 miles:
#9, pp10 MO D’AMOUR could be in position to pull a minor upset in only the third race of her four-year-old season; faced the best as a sophomore while in the Pletcher barn. #2 MARTINI GLASS, surprising second to SONGBIRD last time, is also sharp and fresh; running style fits. #5 MONEYSONCHARLOTTE might struggle late unless she’s left alone out there on the lead. 5*-2*-9*-7 ($7.00)
Race 8: #9, pp10 JILL’S COMPROMISE drew off when last seen on a fast track; probably faced better in Florida. 3-8-9*-1 ($9.00)
