Thistledown 10/12

Ramblings rather than selections . . .

Race 1 – #3 BLACK SHREK draws tepid support off two turn trip against better 19Sep. Paceless bunch – could provide a surprise. 5-3*-7-2 ($26.00)

Race 2 – Youthful #2 ROSCOE’S INDY HOPE should get first jump; must be “speed of speed” to prevail. Today’s cutback might help #3 JODY’S POWER. 5-2*-7-3*  ($50.40)

Race 3 – #6 PLENTY ELUSIVE ships from Indiana fit and ready; Israel Garcia makes this move well. #5 CANTCATCHTHEGROOM is the quickest of the locals; TD Houghton joins the team today. 1-4-7-6* ($14.80)

Race 4 – His success on the east coast tied to the speed/fade comeback effort is a persuasive angle pointing toward #6 GOLDEN MOON. 2-4-3-6* ($9.20)

Race 5 – #4 NIKISPRING cruised by a field last time that included Monday’s winner SQUIDALEN. #8 STREET LAW may be a class over speed play if the price is very right – a speed duel could produce an upset.  #6 BOSPHORUS STORM is the paper tiger trying to maintain his sudden speed spurt. 6*-4*-9-8* ($5.40)

Race 6 – #5 TOP OF THE WORLD is capable of staying hot while climbing back up the class ladder. $3.00 winner 5*-11-1-7

Race 7 – #4 HAPPYISOUTBACK may have enough recent conditioning to catch track/distance angle #7 RED ALL OVER who has been away from two turns since early July. Grinder #5 WEDDED PRINCE is usually good for a piece. 8-7*-4*-2 ($22.80)

Race 8 – #6 VISUAL MISSION gets loose today at this distance. #1 (POE/PP5) COINCINDENTALLY recently beat most of these going shorter after the lean scratched. Playing against Loyalty Stakes runners who went in a roaring storm that may have jumbled the outcome. 1*-6*-3-8 ($17.60)

Thistledown 10/8

Ramblings rather than selections . . .

Race 7 – #3 JUSTALITTLESMOKE is a hot filly. $2.60 winner 3*-2-4-5

Thistledown 10/7

Race 8 -#7 DESERT DARLIN has never been worse than second while serving time in n2L jail; seems like her turn to graduate. Pace setter #8 CALL ME CLEVER does her best running at today’s distance. 6-7*-8*-10 ($15.80)

Thistledown 10/1

Race 4 – #7 I GOT FAITH turned in this group’s fastest 5.5 furlong time 03Sep. #6 RACHELSSILVERCHARM hasn’t danced many dances; they don’t seem to bring her over unless she’s fit. 6*-3-7-1 ($2.80)

Race 3 – UPTOWN BABE returns to conditions after failing to fire in her last trip.

Race 4 – Prairie Meadows shippers are 2/10 here; RUN FOR STORMY’s barn is zero for three from the Prairie but he sports early speed; broke his maiden at Oaklawn with Walter up.

Race 5 – Cutback helps EKATI’S ICE while LEOMBRUNO may have needed that last run. Interesting rematch that features another entrant from LEOMBRUNO’S barn. LEOMBRUNO was a $4.00 winner.

Race 6 – HOSTILE CRUZ should be fitter today while appreciating the wider post position. Faded again but will get another shot at an even higher price.

Race 7 – The Penn National shipper will have to show me. QUEEN CONCERTO would not surprise if GASPARILLA FLOAT and CANDY WAR choose to duel on the lead again.

Race 8 – MOCHIMA won too easily the last time to ignore today. Winner $3.00.

Monday at Thistledown

Ramblings are not always wagers.

Race 1 – #9 SWEET BOO returns to her preferred distance for a new barn; slight advantage over #10 SASSIE CASSIE with similar running style at this, her best distance – second; SASSIE CASSIE was a winner

Race 2 – Returning to the scene of his maiden victory #1 COYOTE MOON could wire these from the rail – winner $2.60

Race 3 – A battle for the early lead could give improving closer #8 SOLAR MAXIMUS an opportunity at a big price – ninth

Race 4 – Cutting back #5 CANALASSO appears to be getting a potential speed duel to close into – second

Race 5 – Perhaps the second trip around two turns and stalking running style gives #5 MISSION CRITICAL a prayer in this mismatched bunch desperate to grab the elusive second lifetime win – fifth

Race 7 – Unless speed has been holding this afternoon #5 ENGLISH CHANNEL looks like another whose ability to rate is going to be a plus – otb

Race 8 – Old timer #1 NATIVE BRITCHES gets another chance to make his late kick into a bevy that to lead early

Race 4 – Second race off the layoff #10 SUTTER’S FIND might be hard to catch but must leave the gate alertly from that wide post position – scratch

Race 5 – #3 PEAT BAY could get a relaxed lead – ninth

Race 6 – Assuming that #6 STORMIN LARRY scratches rather than run back in five days this is a very sticky wicket. The default wager is the classy entry sent out by strong connections #1 (pp5) CITY SLAMMER and #1A BOOT LEGGER both exit Ohio stakes company – winner CITY SLAMMER $6.40 (STORMING LARRY did run finished third)

Race 7 – #7 CONDESTABLE has taken quite nicely to Ohio racing. Today he tangles with some of the best claimers on the grounds – second

Race 8 – Three year old daughter of Blame #6 REDSTART prepped by proving she could get a longer distance in her first Ohio stakes – cutting back she takes on a more experienced bunch today but the price might be right if she the real deal – way off the board
